Gerhard and Henri at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards
We are a husband and wife team who write, photograph and publish books that promote New Zealand. We are passionate about New Zealand, our natural scenery and lifestyle, the quality of the products produced in New Zealand and the enthusiasm of the people involved.
Gerhard is a European trained chef who, upon arriving in New Zealand in the early 1980's fell in love with the iconic landscape. His career has taken many different paths: his love of food, photography, and the beauty of New Zealand have led him him on an interesting road, including farming and now as a professional photographer and book publisher.
Henrietta (known to most as Henri) is a true kiwi. Henri is also well travelled, and along with Gerhard worked in hospitality for many years. Henri now works in a completely different field in a managerial role while working alongside Gerhard publishing books of interest.
The is the third book to have been written and published by Gerhard & Henri. Volcanic Kitchens, come and join us, first published in 2012 and winner at the Gourmand World Cookbook awards for Best Photography Cookbook in NZ and runner up for the Australasia/Pacific section for fund-raising.
A Cut Above, cooking with AngusPure, published in 2014 and award winner at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards for Worlds Best Meat Cookbook and silver medal winner at the Independent Publisher Awards in the Australia/New Zealand Best Regional Non-Fiction Category.
